I just returned from another awesome week with Marlon and an xma team in Honduras.  We were deep in the jungles of the Rio Platano Biosphere between the Patuca River and the Nicaraguan border.  Click here to see a satellite image of our location.

 

This trip was special in many ways.  One of these was that we were able to pack some of the Shoes for Kids into these very remote villages.  I wish you could have been there to see the smiles on the people's faces and then to see them proudly going about their chores in their brightly colored new shoes.

 

I thank you so much for supporting our Shoes for Kids project.  Your faithfulness to love your neighbor as Christ taught us is making a lasting impact on individuals, families and even entire villages.  Your simple act of love not only helps improve their physical health.  It also opens the door for our teams to share the Good News of Jesus through the Jesus Film, oral Bible stories and personal testimony.  Just last week your contribution impacted the villages of Subterraneo, San Ramon and Limon and this was just through our team.  At the same time there were also other XMA teams serving in other areas of Honduras impacting hundreds, if not thousands, of lives for Christ!

 

In addition to my sincere thanks I also want to share an update on our Shoes for Kids project.  So far we have received $8,983.00 which has allowed us to bring in the first 3,477 pairs of shoes.  This is a fantastic start and I thank the Lord for you and your faithfulness.

 

But this is a long term project and we still have a lot of work to do.  Our goal is $24,000 for 12,000 pairs of shoes.  I just got off the phone with GAiN, our ministry partner who is providing the shoes, and they are preparing our next container for shipment.  They are donating these shoes completely free but we are responsible for shipping, customs clearing and distribution costs.

 

Please continue to help us impact the physical and spiritual needs of rural Hondurans.  We need your personal support but, even more importantly, we need you to help spread the word to your friends, family, co-workers, church, civic groups and everyone else so they can be a part of the blessing.  We have tools available to help you spread the word.  You can send them the link to our special Shoes for Kids page, tribalconnection.org/shoes, where they will find the latest updates and they can even make online donations right from the page.  We also have sticky notes, extra copies of previous newsletters, photos and, coming soon, a brand new video on how these shoes are impacting lives now and for eternity.  Just let us know what we can do to help you help others.

The Shoes for Kids project is going well.  I've had the privilege of being with two of our teams as they gave out shoes and other GAiN aid.  It is such as blessing to see the joy on the people faced when they receive the shoes.  For many of them this is the first pair they have ever had.  Another container of GAiN aid arrived in Olanchito yesterday and our sixth one is in transit now.  Thanks to your support many more shoes will soon be on needy Honduran feet.

 

Financial support for Shoes for Kids is also coming along.  We have now raised $14,469 of our $24,000 goal which will provide 12,000 pairs of shoes.  Many churches, Sunday School classes, VBSs and even businesses have taken Shoes for Kids on as an on-going project.  Please continue to pray and support Shoes for Kids as it touches lives in rural Honduras.  Keep an eye on www.xmaonline.com/shoes for the latest news.
