Extreme Light
This is the daily reading your volunteer will be focused on today.
Acts 13:47
47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
I have made you
a light for the Gentiles
to bring salvation
to the ends of the earth.”
A few months back one of our XMA teams went to the village of Las Flores down in a valley west of Olanchito to share the Jesus Film. That night while the film was running the Lord not only touched the people of Las Flores, He also spoke to me in a special way. While the film was running I walked around the edge of the crowd praying and talking to the Lord. Off to the right of the film screen ran a little creek with a grass-covered hill rising up beyond it. As the sun sank behind the rugged mountains I began noticing a few fireflies scattered around on the grassy hillside–one up high, then another to my right, then another and another. Soon the hill was covered with hundreds and hundreds of little flashes of light.
While I enjoyed the beauty of this sight the Lord revealed to me that this was an illustration of our work in the remote villages of Central America. The hill represented the mountains of Central America. Each time we show the Jesus Film, see people come to Jesus and plant a new church is another point of light on the dark hillside. I felt the Lord telling me that if we are faithful to continue sharing the Good News the mountains of Honduras will soon be filled with the Light of His Love. I was standing there reflecting on this and thanking the Lord for allowing me to be a small part of His plan to reach the lost world when suddenly the film came to a bright scene and the light from the screen illuminated the whole hillside. It was as if the Lord was confirming to me, “Continue to do the work I have shown you and I will fill these mountains with My Light”.
Why do we go? Because Christians must not retreat and hide from the world. As Believers who possess the Light of the world, we can reach out in love and make a difference that is eternal!
