Day 7 of Trip

Extreme Comfort

This is the daily reading your volunteer will be focused on today.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Looking back over your Extreme Missionary Adventure you have probably been through some pretty uncomfortable experiences–riding for hours on end in uncomfortable trucks, trying to sleep in uncomfortable “beds”, eating unusual foods, the constant press of people you cannot communicate with and don’t understand.  But have you been uncomfortable, or has God shown you that He is the God of all comfort?  The Apostle Paul tells us in the verses above that our God is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.  As you have seen this week He is not only willing and able to comfort us in all situations, He takes pleasure in comforting us.

But why is He comforting you?  Not just because He is a good God and wants you to be happy (although He is and does).  He comforts and blesses you so that you can comfort others and show them how they can have the joy, blessings, and comfort that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus.  And you passed on the comfort and blessing the Lord has sent to you by presenting the Gospel to the people in the villages through the Jesus Film, in each New Testament you gave out, in each bottle of medicine or vitamins.  If you are like most of our adventurers you have no regrets about the small comforts you sacrificed this week so that hundreds of unreached people could hear the Good News.

Prayer Prompt

Pray for your volunteer to prepare his/her heart to travel to the remote places to share the Good News.
