Pray About Everything – Lucy*

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7 Paul sure did know how to pack a lot of punch into just a few words. There’s so much theology packed into these two verses of scripture. He says that we shouldn’t worry, but instead we should pray. About everything. I don’t know about you, but I fall way short in that. My team and I have rejoiced here lately in seeing God answer some very specific prayers – some that we have been praying for over a year. I think as we have seen God answer our prayers in big ways I’ve been reminded of a few things: Never give up praying big prayers. The God of the universe can do far more than we could ever ask or imagine, so when he lays something on your heart that seems way too big for you to ever accomplish on your own, you’re right where you need to be. Pray big prayers and expect him to answer. He cares about the details as well. Pray big, but also pray small. Our creator knows the number of hairs on our head and our number of days on this earth. He cares about the details, too. Trust them to his care. Be thankful. Thank him for the prayers that he has already answered. And thank him in advance for those he will answer in his timing. All we have is a gift from him. Live with a grateful heart. Let his peace guard your heart and your mind. When we come to the Lord in prayer and lay our burdens – big and small – at the foot of the cross, his answer to that is his peace. It doesn’t mean all of our problems are solved, but it means we don’t have to worry because we know that he is in control. *Name changed for security purposes |
