Go Out and Pray – Kate Maverick

In the book of Luke, Jesus’ shows us an example for opening up new territories to the Gospel. In this story Jesus appoints missionary teams to go ahead of him preparing the way. Through his omniscient knowledge he sees that the harvest is abundant. However, rather than tell his followers to get busy harvesting he tells them first to go out into the harvest fields praying for more workers.  Notice that he did not tell them to go to the temple to pray or to go back home to pray.  He told them, and he is telling us now, to go out into the harvest fields to pray.  He is calling us to go be with the people we expect him to save.
